Miss University of Georgia Outstanding Teen 2014
EmmaKate Few is a 15-year-old sophomore at Aquinas High School. She is the daughter of Trey and Indee Few of Augusta, GA. Her parents, grandparents and great grandparents are all graduates of the University of Georgia. The Few family has been involved in the University of Georgia since her seventh great uncle William Few was a trustee in 1797!
EmmaKate placed first runner up in the 2013 Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen Competition and was awarded the Overall Interview Award and preliminary talent award.
She currently studies classical ballet, theatrical arts and vocal performance and is a member of an award winning competition clogging dance team. She is vice president of her class, state representative for the Georgia Association of Student Councils and is active in her school's drama department, Students Against Drunk Driving, campus ministry, key club and Spanish club. She is ranked second in her class. She serves as a member of the Executive Youth Board for the American Red Cross, secretary of the Children of the American Revolution, member of the executive committee for Westobou Festival Junior Board and member of the Reid Memorial Women's Chorus and the Sand Hills String Band. She enjoys cheerleading, cross country and is the current regional champion in golf. EmmaKate is a WJBF News Giving Your Best Award winner for her work with the humane society, and she has been chosen for the GMEA All State choir for two years and had the privilege of singing in the world premiere of Incarnatio Mysteria at the Lincoln Center in New York City.
EmmaKate is one of the ten national spokespersons for the worldwide non-profit Soles4Souls. In the past two years she has collected more than 5,000 pairs of shoes and has enjoyed speaking across the southeast about the importance of changing lives by donating shoes. This year she has enjoyed distributing more than 300 pairs of new shoes donated by Sketchers across her community and working with kids thru organizations like the Boys and Girls Club. She considers herself a volunteer junkie because she absolutely loves being involved in her community! EmmKate is a two-time recipient of the Presidential Service Award for Volunteerism, giving more than 2,400 service hours to her community. She has written a curriculum for elementary and middle school students that she helps to lead at Leadership Development Conferences. She was recently nominated to attend the Hugh O'Brien Leadership Conference in summer 2014.
